The Best Free Design Tools to Promote Your Music Festival App

You’ve planned an amazing festival and created an app to go with it. Now it’s time to get your attendees to download the app and use it. You want to make some great-looking promotional materials, but your artistic talents are limited to choosing an Instagram filter. Relax! You don’t have to blow out your budget to hire a designer. We’ve put together a list of tools to help even the least artistic person promote their festival app in a professional, polished way.

Graphic Design and Image Editing

Canva is a great all-purpose tool. With over 8000 design templates to choose from, it’s easy to create something amazing in minutes. There are even perfectly-sized templates for every social media platform you’re promoting on, so your posts will look great across the board. Best of all, you can have up to 10 team members on the free account.

Pixlr Editor is a robust editing platform that allows you to layer and place effects like you can in Photoshop (except it’s free).

Snappa is an online graphic design tool that lets you create a perfectly-sized image for just about anything–from blog posts to social media to e-mails.

GNU Image Manipulation Program is a free program that allows you to retouch, edit, and layer your photos (also similar to Photoshop). Unlike the other programs we’ve listed, you will have to download this one. You can download it for free here.

Typography and Icons

The Noun Project has over a million royalty-free icons created by designers all over the world. It’s free to use and adds impact to your visuals.

Find Icons is a resource that lets you search for any icon you can dream up and then scours the web for a free version to use.

Freebbble has more than 1000 design freebies, like custom fonts, icons, illustrations, and more. Have a look around!

Google Fonts is a large library of free, open-source fonts optimized for the web.

Urban Fonts has over 8000 free downloadable fonts to choose from.

Photos

Unsplash has free HQ photos to use as you please anywhere.

ISO Republic is a vast collection of beautiful free and premium stock photos.

Pond5 call themselves the marketplace for creativity for a reason. They have over 63,000 free photos to use commercially. What’s unique about them is that you can upload a photo that you like (but isn’t the best quality, or you don’t have the rights to it) and their site will find something similar for you to use.

If you’re still having trouble figuring out where to begin, Google and Youtube are great places to begin. There are thousands of free, helpful tutorials out there, so start searching!
